Ozaukee Youth Hockey Association: A Proven Track Record of Success

The Ozaukee Youth Hockey Association (OYHA) is an independent organization serving youths, adults, families and schools. Its mission is to provide exceptional, year-round, ice-based programs, training services and recreational opportunities in a safe and fun atmosphere that promotes wellness, skill development and socialization for Ozaukee County residents and visitors.

In 1995, thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Ozaukee Ice Association, a 33,000-square foot-facility was constructed on 6.7 acres of donated land on Pioneer and Green Bay roads. Known as the Ozaukee Ice Center (OIC), the facility cost $3.3 million to design and construct, including one National Hockey League (NHL) size rink with seating capacity for 540 spectators, locker rooms with showers, public washrooms, a concession stand, and a video game area.

With a major growth of hockey in the area, the single ice sheet facility was bursting at the brim, and additional ice needs made way for the fundraising and construction of another sheet of ice. Opening in December 2011, the 43,000 sq ft addition was realized through more than $3.0M in private donations to cover over half the cost of the $6.0M improvement. As it stands today, the Ozaukee Ice Center houses two NHL-size ice sheets with a total capacity of 2,000 people, 14 Locker Rooms, 2 Officials Rooms, expansive lobby, and full service concessions and mezzanine bar area. Proper foresight now puts us in a position to continue to add to the internal infrastructure of the facility. 12,000 sq ft of unfinished space exist as a future build out for sports training and community health and fitness. All said and done, the Ozaukee Ice Center will continue to be one of the leading sports facilities in the State by providing top-notch recreation, fitness, employment, and educational avenues. We are proud to have such a facility in our community.
