Sheperd To Wieland: 'Be Very Afraid'

Let's get ready to rumble

It all started innocently enough.

Ice Shack center Joe Wieland was chasing after a puck along with Express defender Donna Sheperd.  Wieland had position, so Sheperd tried go to around him, and her stick came up a little high.

Wieland then proceeded to throw his arms up, leap into the air, and flop to the ice, successfully drawing a tripping penalty against Sheperd, and receiving an Academy Award nomination for best actor.

Sheperd went off to the penalty box, and Ice Shack proceeded to score what ended up being the game winning goal.

OCHL correspondent Mean Gene Okerlund talked to both players after the game.

Mean Gene:  I’ve seen my share of flopping in my time, but that was beautiful.  Graceful.  Poetry in motion.  Tell us about how you did it.

Joe Wieland:  Well, I didn’t actually flop.  Donna has a reputation as a dirty player, and she proved it once again on the OIC ice.  As far as I’m concerned, justice was served.

Mean Gene:  Wieland, sticking to his story.  Let’s now bring in Donna Sheperd.  Now Donna, you heard Wieland…he thinks that everything played out the way it was supposed to.

Donna Sheperd:  Well, I don’t really want to get into anything…

Mean Gene:  Are you angry?  Are you upset?

Donna Sheperd:  No, not really….it was just a hockey play…

Mean Gene: Donna… What would you like to say to Joe Wieland?  Just look straight into that camera, and speak your mind --

Donna Sheperd:  (grabs mike out of Gene’s hand) Be afraid, Joe Wieland.  Be very afraid. The first thing I want to be done is to get that piece of crap out of my rink! Don’t just get him out of the rink, get him out of the OCHL because I’ve proven son, without a shadow of a doubt, you ain’t got what it takes anymore. You skate there, and you thump your hockey stick on the ice, and you say your prayers, and it didn’t get you anywhere. Talk about your psalms. Talk about John 3:16. Well, Donna 3:16 says "I’ve just whipped your ass!" All he’s gotta do is go buy him a cheap bottle of Thunderbird and try to dig back some of that courage he had in his prime. As the Queen of the Rink, I’m serving notice to every one of the OCHL Superstars. I don’t give a damn what they are. They're all on the list, and that is ‘D-Shep’s List’, and I’m fixing to start running through all of them. As far as this championship match is considered, son, I don’t give a damn if it’s Joe Wieland or Joe Olson.  I don’t give a damn if it’s Featherstone or Barnhill.  Donna Sheperd’s time has come, and when I get the shot, you're looking at the next OCHL champion, and that’s the bottomline because Donna Sheperd said so!

Mean Gene:  I.  Am.  Impressed!  I think I’m in love!

Sheperd proceeded to calmly just pack her hockey bag, and head on home.

The two teams will rematch on February 28th, and you can bet the two players will be on the ice at the same time early and often.

"We're the home team, so we'll get the final change," said executive vice president of strategic strategy Seth Levine.  "Donna is going to cover him like a blanket.  Joe might as well stay home, since he's not going to have the puck on his stick the whole game."
